Questions
Quietly answered.
How much of my loved one’s ashes do you need?
+
Approximately 60 grams — about a quarter of a typical urn. We provide the collection vessel and prepaid return packaging in your Welcome Box. The remaining ashes stay with you to do with as you wish.
How much of my loved one is actually in the base?
+
Sixty-three percent of the base by weight is your loved one’s cremated remains. To our knowledge, no comparable product in the category exceeds 15%.
Can I send the ashes whenever I’m ready?
+
Yes. There is no clock. The Welcome Box is designed so the timing is yours. Some families send within days. Others take months, or longer. Both are correct.
Is the price the same for a person and a companion animal?
+
Yes. Same materials, same chain of custody, same packaging, same care. We do not discount for companion animals, because pet grief is not a lesser category.
What is the candle made of?
+
The candle is a premium scented candle developed in collaboration with an Australian perfumer. It burns for forty to fifty hours and is intended to be replaced rather than refilled.
How do anniversary refills work?
+
At the time of your order, you nominate up to four meaningful dates each year. A replacement candle in your chosen scent arrives on each. You can change scents at any time, gift refills to family members, or pause and resume the subscription.
Is the base safe near a flame?
+
Yes. The resin formulation has been validated against direct flame contact and sustained candle heat without softening, yellowing, or off-gassing. The base is designed to remain dimensionally stable for the life of the object.
Can I return the product?
+
Once the base has been poured from your loved one’s remains, the product cannot be returned. What we offer instead is a commitment to remake any product whose craft or experience falls short of what we promised. If anything is wrong, write to us — we answer personally.
Where is it made?
+
Each base is poured, cured, and assembled in our dedicated Melbourne facility, by hand. The candle vessel is made by a small craft house in Italy or Portugal.
What about regulation?
+
Cremated remains in Australia are regulated at state level. We work with legal counsel to remain compliant. The Melbourne-only manufacturing decision was made specifically to maintain regulatory clarity.
